What Your Voice Has to Do with Your Hormones The throat–womb connection every woman should know about

Slowing Down to Hear Your Body

I’ve just returned from a family trip to the south of France — and one thing that really struck me was the pace of life.

Everything moved slower.
Shops closed for lunch.
Meals were shared slowly, cooked with local, seasonal ingredients, and enjoyed with presence.

That rhythm — soft, grounded, intentional — felt like medicine.
It reminded me how easily we disconnect from our own rhythms, especially in the rush of day-to-day life.

And it made me reflect on something I often support women with in my work: the energetic link between the throat and the womb.

The Throat–Womb Connection

Your womb and your throat are more connected than you might think. In fact, they are strikingly similar in structure — both are muscular, hollow, sensitive, and designed to open and close. Both are gateways of creation — one gives life to truth, the other to life itself.

From a chakra perspective:

  • Your womb sits in the root chakra, your centre of safety, survival, and belonging.

  • Your throat chakra is the centre of expression, truth, and voice — but only if you feel safe enough to be heard.

And that’s the key.
Safety.

When we don’t feel safe to express ourselves — especially from a young age — we often internalise that silence.
We keep the peace.
We quiet our needs.
We carry the weight in our bodies.

Common Signs of Disconnection

In my sessions, I’ve noticed a pattern: women who have been silenced (in childhood, relationships, workplaces) often experience:

  • Thyroid issues or frequent sore throats

  • Jaw tension or tight shoulders

  • Irregular or painful periods

  • Womb heaviness, numbness, or pelvic tension

  • Difficulty expressing emotions or desires

  • Feeling disconnected from creativity or sensuality

These aren’t just random symptoms.
They are your body’s way of speaking what you haven’t been able to say.

Healing Begins with Expression

The beauty of the throat–womb connection is that healing one centre supports the other.

When you speak your truth, your womb softens.
When you rest your body, your voice grows steadier.
When you slow down, you begin to feel again.

This is why I always say that energy healing is never just about “relaxation.”
It’s a remembering. A return. A gentle unwinding of all that you’ve held in for too long.

A Simple Practice to Reconnect

Try this gentle practice at home:

  1. Lie down and place one hand on your throat, and one on your womb.

  2. Close your eyes and breathe slowly.

  3. Ask:
    “What have I silenced?”
“What does my body want to express?”

You might receive words, images, feelings, or nothing at all. Simply being present is a powerful act of healing.
